There is a slight lip to the case between the top and bottom of the speed editor, a feature I note is advertised for all the Blackmagic Design consoles to facilitate placing into a routed location on a work surface. The keys clearly are of a quality mechanical design and do have a nice crisp response and slight sound due to mechanical nature that confirms you had pressed the key. I use it primarily with "Jog", but if I switch to Source, I'll change the setting as I'm then scrolling through the clips. Very smooth frictionless movement when using the wheel.

The shuttle/jog/scroll (depending on selection) wheel has a very solid feel that has a rubberized coating on the edge for a comfortable grip. Pagination may change in the final PDF, but it was on page 39 in the copy provided with the DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.1 beta 6.īuild quality: The editor has a very nice solid feel to it. I'd located the manual is part of the DaVinci Resolve user guide (PDF) in the installation directory.

NOTE: No printed manual is provided by Blackmagic Design for the Speed Editor, instead a card is provided explaining the saving of materials. This is the speed editor that I received as part of the DaVinci Resolve Studio license and free speed editor bundle. I've been working with the Speed Editor for a few days now and wanted to provide an update to my experience. Shout out to B&H Photo-Video for their prompt shipping once the back ordered editor was in. Now my only question is, which configuration should I get? I do all my editing off an external SSD and won’t be installing that much on the MacBook other than logic, davinci and a few other apps, but what about RAM? It seems to drive the price up very rapidly which kind of ruins the value proposition but I also don’t want to end up with a device that won’t be able to keep up in a year either.Apologies for the table cloth, but it's a work surface I was using at the time.Īlright, have had my DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor for a few days now. I am extremely intrigued by the new MacBook Air with the M1 chip, it seems to me like it could provide me with the best of both worlds, as I don’t need my portable to be the fastest most powerful device I own, but it seems it would be more than enough for what I need it for. However, I want a device to a) be able to take with me to shoots b)do quick simple edits on to show a client what we will be doing for example c)just everyday here and there office use, entertainment consumption etc. I do most of my editing on a beast of a windows desktop in Davinci Resolve. So, I’ve been using an iPad Pro (2018) since early 2020, but the dream of it actually becoming a laptop replacement never materialised, I am a musician and video editor and it simply lacks the “pro” applications that I need to use for clients.
